The Importance of Trees…..
Continuity…..
Why I Love Trees
I realized how my inner world of feeling and thinking was translating so consistently into my paintings when I recently reviewed my work. These paintings all have such a continuity of form, line, color and content. I painted these four images of trees over the last few years. The paintings progress clockwise from the upper left hand corner. The first image,“Trees, Trees, Trees”, was created in 2015. “Spring Thaw” was painted in 2018. I painted “Trees” and a “Thicket of Trees” in 2019.
My paintings are my ode to our planet. I have a love of trees and their intricate branches,.shapes and shadows. Trees are a part of our culture and provide us with metaphors of strength, safety and peace. Expressions we use speak of the tree of life, having roots and the family tree to name a few. Trees provide shade, shelter, privacy, a place to climb and think. Trees provide a welcome color of green that is soothing to the brain and helpful in daylighting our office and public use interiors. The green of the outdoors helps productivity in the workplace. Trees help our atmosphere with oxygen and removing carbon dioxide. They help keep our ecosystem functioning.
Think about what will happen if trees become scarcer or even absent on our planet. I hope it will not come to that.
